Celebrating Women’s History Month: Corynn Ciber Helps Drive WSFS’ Delivery Transformation to Better Serve Customers
Having worked in the finance and technology industries for nearly 25 years, Corynn Ciber is no stranger to breaking barriers. In two industries that women have been underrepresented in, she has blazed her own trail, leading to her role as Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer at WSFS Bank.
“I went into financial services right out of college, and held a variety of roles, from insurance sales to marketing manager to operations manager,” Ciber said. “I then transitioned into program management and technology, where I supported and led development teams, infrastructure and organizations.”
How was she drawn to the technology aspect of the banking and financial services industry?
“I was working on a high-profile project that was going sideways at my prior organization,” she said. “The Chief Information Officer at the time recognized my ability to lead the team and get the project back on track. After that, he was confident that he needed someone with my skillset on his team and within weeks I was offered the position as his Chief of Staff. This role opened doors for me in technology and gave me an opportunity to lead and grow, both personally and professionally.”
These experiences helped guide Ciber to her current role at WSFS, where she is helping lead the Bank’s Delivery Transformation, developing a cohesive omni-channel delivery structure that enables seamless Customer experiences between branches, contact centers and digital banking technologies to meet evolving needs.
This includes introducing new tools and applications while also upgrading and enhancing existing technology to better serve Customers.
“Our commitment to constantly improving our technology is an important part of our strategy, and proved especially vital in the past year, as these digital offerings provided Customers with a way to complete their transactions in a safe and convenient manner,” Ciber said.
As Chief Digital Officer, Ciber is blazing a trail forward for women in the technology and finance industries while also transforming how WSFS serves its Customers.
Her advice for others looking to break down barriers?
“Don’t be afraid of the unknown,” Ciber said. “Embrace the unknown and look for opportunities to challenge yourself. Ask a lot of questions, take copious notes and remember that Google is your friend. It’s also important to remember to:
- Be bold.
- Stay in your lane, when needed.
- Strive to find work/life balance, but understand it will never be perfect.
- Keep one calendar. This way you never miss important meetings, games or school events for your family.
- Strong relationships are key to success.
- Trust is earned, and once broken difficult to achieve again.
