WSFS and Philadelphia Union Make a Difference, One Backpack at a Time

A sea of smiling faces, filled with anticipation and excitement. Hundreds of local students will kick off the school year in style thanks to the Philadelphia Union’s annual Backpack Carnival, presented by WSFS Bank, in collaboration with CityTeam Chester. The event, held on August 18 at Subaru Park and the WSFS Bank Sportsplex, provided students with essential school supplies, carnival games, snacks, music and more.

The partnership between WSFS and the Philadelphia Union continues to make a significant impact in the community. Together, they rallied dozens of volunteers, including WSFS Associates, to distribute more than one thousand backpacks filled with notebooks, pencils, crayons, and other essential school supplies.

Beyond the distribution of backpacks, the event featured a vibrant atmosphere with games, face painting, the WSFS Ice Cream Truck, and a special appearance by the Philadelphia Union mascot Phang. The energy was contagious as children and families enjoyed the festivities while preparing for the upcoming school year.
