For the third consecutive year, WSFS has been named a 2024 honoree of the Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia. The annual award is bestowed by the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia in partnership with globally recognized nonprofit Points of Light, lead partner the Philadelphia Foundation, and other local partners.

The honor speaks to how ingrained service and community impact are at WSFS, a nearly 200-year-old company and the oldest and largest locally headquartered bank and trust company in the Greater Philadelphia and Delaware region.

“Our dedicated and passionate Associates are the fuel that drives our community efforts forward to make a measurable and lasting impact for those we’re fortunate to serve,” said Vernita Dorsey, Senior Vice President, Director of Community Strategy at WSFS Bank. “Team WSFS volunteered more than 18,000 hours in 2023. Based on the dedication and commitment of our Associates, we’ve already achieved this same milestone during the first half of 2024.”

Most recently, WSFS celebrated its second annual We Stand for Service Day in June 2024, where the bank closed for a half-day so approximately 1,500 Associates could volunteer, resulting in more than 5,000 volunteer hours at more than 130 community organizations across the region.

The 2024 Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia honorees represent private and public companies, as well as nonprofits, agencies, and institutions (e.g., hospitals and universities) of more than 10 employees operating in the 11-county Greater Philadelphia region. They have been selected based on four dimensions of their community engagement program:

  • Investment of resources
  • Integration across business functions
  • Institutionalization through policies and systems
  • Impact measurement

“The Chamber is proud to recognize WSFS as a 2024 honoree of the Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia,” said Chellie Cameron, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber. “Each of this year’s honorees are valued members of Greater Philadelphia’s business community, exemplifying what it means to be a positive corporate citizen and demonstrating the power of service. We thank WSFS for their efforts to drive impact and congratulate them on this tremendous achievement.”
